Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the development and intellectual structure of the investor sentiment field, which has become a central topic in behavioral finance. Given its broad impact on financial and economic variables, identifying key research trends, intellectual contributions, and emerging themes is essential.

Methodology: In March 2025, a systematic search was conducted in the Web of Science database using selected keywords, retrieving 4,546 relevant publications. Due to the platform’s export limit (500 records per batch), the data were downloaded in stages in Plain Text format and analyzed using the Bibliometrix package in R.

Findings: There has been significant growth in publications since the early 2000s. The keyword “investor sentiment” appeared 1,147 times. The International Review of Financial Analysis leads with 158 related articles. China and global collaborations play a major role in the field's development.

Conclusion: Investor sentiment is a dynamic and expanding research area in behavioral finance that continues to attract growing global academic interest.
